A four-part concert series starring the singer-songwriter, recorded at the Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester.
In this series of four concerts from the Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester, singer-songwriter Alan Price (Alan Price) presents a variety of musical styles. The first programme features American singer Madeline Bell (Madeline Bell) as a special guest, with a setlist dedicated to gospel, blues, and soul. The final episode sees Price joined by fellow musician Georgie Fame (Georgie Fame) for a performance of songs by notable pop composers.
This short series of concerts, recorded in the intimate setting of Manchester’s Royal Exchange Theatre, was constructed as a vehicle for Alan Price’s versatility. Instead of a conventional pop music format, each programme was built around a specific genre, allowing Price and his guests to perform extended sets of gospel, blues, soul, protest songs, and rock and roll. The production presented Price not just as a hitmaker, but as an interpreter and historian of popular music, with guests including the American soul singer Madeline Bell and his former musical colleague Georgie Fame.
