This 75 minute musical extravaganza for New Years Eve saw Max Bygraves give us a run down of modern music with various segments looking at different eras from the days of the can can through to the then present day. Each era was given a full scale production number, interspersed with comic routines from Max based on the changing times.
There were also clips from old movies featuring the likes of George Formby and Gracie Fields as well as a clip from TV show Sykes (which to be fair, although funny didn’t really seem to have anything to do with the topic.) The highlight of the whole show would have to be the sixties segment not least Max decked out as Tom Jones to sing Delilah. As befitting the New Years Eve vibe, the show finished with a rendition of Auld Lang Syne.
